The history of Apparatebau Wiesloch began at the end of the 1960s. The technical advantages of mineral heat transfer oils over steam – in particular, virtually pressure-free system operation at operating temperatures of up to approx. 350 °C – led to the increasingly widespread use of this technology worldwide.

Even at that time, a comprehensive product portfolio was developed around the successful KONTAKTOMAT^® three-pass heater fired with fuel gases and heating oils and manufactured in Wiesloch: electric heaters, process heat exchangers, evaporation plants, thermal exhaust air purification systems, waste heat recovery systems and associated purification equipment, water preheaters, evaporators, air heaters and steel chimneys. After just a few years, “systems from Wiesloch” were already in use in over 40 countries. At the beginning of the 1990s, Apparatebau Wiesloch GmbH ceased trading.

In 1998, a completely new era began: Norbert Classen, Claus Albrecht and Hans-Raymund Roos founded the company Classen Apparatebau Wiesloch GmbH, now known as “CAW” to customers and business partners around the world after almost 23 years on the market, in order to resume direct sales of the popular and proven Wiesloch products worldwide.

With our four primary areas of application – high-temperature process heating technology, industrial combustion technology, decentralised power generation using ORC technology and thermal exhaust air purification – we have been operating successfully worldwide since our foundation and are now one of the leading providers of consistently customised and complete system solutions “Made in Germany”. We offer a comprehensive range of services, starting with feasibility studies, preparation of planning and approval documents, manufacture of plant components, and ending with the handover of the complete turnkey plant.

Classen Apparatebau Wiesloch GmbH has been an owner-managed and completely independent company since the day it was founded. At the end of 2020, all three shareholders retired to enjoy their well-deserved retirement, and management of the company is now in the hands of Katja Roos and Christian Schnadt.
