Bitumen, tar, lubricant and oil industry: Safe high-temperature heat and stable temperature control
Process heat for storage tanks, pipelines and their trace heating systems, mixing plants and thermal treatment
The bitumen, tar, lubricant and oil industries require large amounts of heat, and high temperatures are crucial to ensure stable viscosities. Products must be reliably temperature-controlled, stored, mixed and pumped. Temperature fluctuations lead to viscosity and quality problems, plant downtime or even safety risks. At the same time, the media to be heated are often demanding, plants traditionally run in continuous operation, and integration into tank farms, pipe networks and production lines must be solved cleanly.
CAW plans and implements extremely robust process heating systems for such demanding requirements. Thermal oil systems are particularly suitable in this industry because they deliver the required high flow temperatures completely without steam pressure and can simultaneously supply a large number of heat consumers centrally. Thermal oil heaters are designed and constructed in such a way that the heating surface load, pressure losses and efficiency are suited to the application and fuel supply. Additional heat exchangers can be integrated for secondary process media such as steam, water or even hot gases. This allows the heat to be distributed flexibly to different consumers.
Heat recovery is a key lever for reducing fuel/primary energy requirements and thus operating costs. Economisers and shell-and-tube heat exchangers use exhaust gas heat to preheat media and/or combustion air. In the case of emission issues or organically contaminated exhaust air flows, TNV/TAR systems can be used as an alternative or supplement to safely oxidise pollutants and recover heat at the same time. Electric heaters are generally possible if emission-free operation or peak load coverage is required.
