Food and beverage industry: Process heat and reliable thermal oil, steam, and hot water systems for hygienic processes
Heat for cooking, baking, drying, pasteurization, sterilization and cleaning
In the food and beverage industry, process heat is a key resource accounting for the lion’s share of energy consumption. Heat and steam are used for heating, drying, blanching, frying, pasteurisation, sterilisation, CIP cleaning, hot water, and other thermal processes. At the same time, the requirements for hygiene, operational safety, and consistent product quality are high. All equipment, whether used for batch or continuous processes, must therefore operate reliably, be easy to clean, and maintain absolutely stable temperatures.
CAW designs and builds complete energy centers and process heating systems engineered for industrial durability and safe operation.
Thermal oil heaters, steam generators, as well as steam and hot water systems cater to a wide range of applications in which these media are required for heating and cleaning purposes. For a temperature-stable heat supply that does not require high pressure systems or comply with high pressure regulations, thermal oil systems using food-grade oils (NSF H1-registered) are an option – for example, for baking ovens, deep fryers, drying systems, or hot-air systems. Electric heaters are increasingly being used where emission-free heat is required or when electrical energy needs to be specifically converted into process heat.
Other key areas include energy efficiency and decarbonization. Economizers and shell-and-tube heat exchangers utilize exhaust gas and other process waste heat to preheat feedwater, hot water, or process air. This significantly reduces fuel consumption and operating costs. For exhaust air streams containing organic compounds or other odorous substances, robust thermal oxidizer / incinerator systems, combined with effective heat recovery, enable safe thermal treatment and purification.
- Thermal oil heaters as integral primary heat generators
- Steam generators and steam systems for process steam and cleaning
- Thermal oil systems for uniform heat distribution in ovens, fryers, and dryers
- Economizers for feedwater preheating and increased efficiency
- Shell-and-tube heat exchangers for reliable media separation and reliable heating networks
- Thermal oxidizer / incinerator systems for exhaust air treatment and odour control
CAW has always supported food processing companies in design, integration, commissioning, and maintenance of their systems. The goal is to provide a heat supply that sustainably ensures process quality, permanently reduces energy costs, and reliably fits into existing and future hygiene protocols.
