Paper industry and felt manufacturing: high-temperature process heat, as well as efficient waste heat recovery and utilisation
Technology for drying, setting, finishing and coating – thermal oil, steam, warm/hot water and hot air for a reliable energy supply
In the paper and felt manufacturing industries, energy requirements are dominated by drying systems, rollers/calenders, and coating and finishing systems – process heat is required in the form of thermal oil, hot water and steam. Large-scale plants operate continuously worldwide; load profiles are dynamic, and downtime inevitably results in high costs. Heat is essential for drying, fixing, smoothing and compacting, as well as for finishing. At the same time, significant waste heat flows are inevitably generated, which are suitable for recovery.
CAW supplies complete energy centres designed to provide both process heat and waste heat recovery and utilisation, ensuring reliable availability in demanding industrial production environments. In addition to thermal oil, steam generators and steam systems, as well as high-pressure hot water and hot air, are required as process media. In numerous processes, shell-and-tube heat exchangers ensure safe media separation and enable efficient heat transfer between heating and consumer circuits.
Any increase in efficiency achieved through heat recovery and utilisation is becoming increasingly important: economisers use exhaust heat to preheat feed water or to supply hot water and process media networks. Waste heat systems and other suitable downstream heating surfaces significantly increase overall efficiency. For exhaust air streams containing organic components, TRO/TAR systems enable safe thermal neutralisation. If a suitable level of waste heat is available, an ORC system for additional on-site electricity generation is also a viable option.
