The energy transition – whether in industry, transportation, or even in private households – has for some time now been demanding increasingly robust solutions for process heat. Many companies want to consistently reduce their use of fossil fuels or eliminate them entirely, preferring instead to use electricity from renewable sources and, wherever possible, systematically harness waste heat potential. This includes not only CO2 reduction and climate protection goals, but also operational safety, high availability and uptime, extensive controllability, and cost-effective integration into existing infrastructure. It is crucial that energy flows within the plant are managed in a stable and technically sound manner.
CAW supports the use of renewable energy through electric heat generation and efficient heat recovery. Robust, industrial-grade electric heaters, are the primary option when process heat needs to be generated directly from electricity. This is particularly well-suited for use in combination with solar power, wind power, or a fully electrified site concept. Extremely precise power control allows load profiles to be smoothed and process requirements to be reliably met. In hybrid concepts, an electric heater supplements existing fossil fuel-fired systems to cover peak loads or optimize operating modes.
At the same time, CAW designs custom waste heat recovery systems, economizers, and other heat exchangers to utilize waste heat from combustion systems, thermal oxidizer / incinerator plants, or process exhaust gas streams. Where a moderately constant temperature level is present and available, an ORC system can generate additional electrical energy and increase overall efficiency. Thermal oil systems always serve as a stable heat transfer circuit to efficiently distribute and transfer energy between sources and consumers.
