Mechanical engineering and the metalworking industry: process heat for furnaces, immersion baths, coating and manufacturing processes

Robust systems for continuous industrial operation, rapid control and improved efficiency

In mechanical engineering and the metalworking industry, thermal processes form a key part of the value chain: heat is required for furnaces, mixers/reactors, preheating sections, drying, coating, temperature control, heating rollers and forming machines, as well as for cleaning and treatment processes. Rapid responses to unavoidable load changes, stable temperature control during variable manufacturing processes and formulations, and seamless integration into existing production lines are therefore key criteria.

CAW supplies process heating systems that are technically well-designed and, at the same time, robustly engineered for industrial use. Thermal oil systems are suitable for temperature control tasks and for processes that require uniform heat distribution and tight temperature profiles at higher temperatures. The heaters are designed so that pressure losses and heating surface load are suited to both the available fuels and the technical applications – whilst maximising efficiency and minimising operating costs are also key priorities. Electric heaters are used as an emission-free heat source or as a flexible supplement for peak load coverage.

Heat recovery is playing an increasingly important role in this industry. Economisers and shell-and-tube heat exchangers utilise exhaust gas and other waste heat streams to preheat products and process media or to transfer energy to other circuits. For exhaust air and flue gas streams containing organic compounds or with odour issues, TRO/TAR systems treat the exhaust air thermally whilst simultaneously making the heat usable. For plant designs with a constant level of waste heat, an ORC system can generate additional electrical energy.

    • Thermal oil systems and thermal oil heaters for heat treatment furnaces, tool heating and temperature control processes
    • Electric heaters for precise, emission-free process heat and peak load coverage
    • Economisers and heat exchangers for waste heat recovery and improved efficiency
    • TRO/TAR systems for exhaust air streams containing organic compounds
    • Engineering, integration into existing systems and commissioning

CAW supports businesses with the technical design and implementation of their systems during ongoing operations. The result is an efficient and integrated process heating system that operates with absolute reliability, consistently saves energy and demonstrably improves process control.
